Presented by the Co-Founders of BREATHE: Dr Rana Al-Falaki - specialist periodontist, leadership coach, and bestselling author of NAIL IT Leadership & Jackie Cooper - cognitive hypnotherapist and NLP Master practitioner - In partnership with Densura, NAIL-IT In Dentistry, Cooper Transformation and BREATHE Dental Wellness
This isn't another wellbeing webinar. This is about compliance - and we know what it can feel like when your neck is on the line.
The GDC's revised Standards for Education (2025) place wellbeing at the centre of professional practice - not as a nice-to-have, but as a demonstrable standard. The CQC's Single Assessment Framework now assesses practices against a "Well-led" quality statement that looks directly at leadership culture, staff experience, and team safety.
In short: if you cannot demonstrate that wellbeing and leadership practices are embedded in how you and your team work, you are not fully compliant.
And the stakes are higher than most people realise.
Poor wellbeing doesn't just affect how you feel - it drives errors, complaints, and fitness-to-practise referrals. It creates the conditions in which toxic team dynamics thrive, in which associates feel unable to raise concerns or decline treatment they are uncomfortable with, and in which the pressure to simply get through the day overrides clinical judgement.
This webinar cuts through the noise - no vague wellness advice, no tick-box thinking - and gives you a clear, evidence-based picture of what good actually looks like, how to recognise signs in yourself, and what you can do about it starting now.
WHAT WE WILL COVER:
The compliance question: What the GDC and CQC now expect from individuals, associates, and practice leaders - and how to evidence it.
The real cost of poor wellbeing: How toxic team dynamics, psychological unsafety, and burnout translate directly into complaints and clinical risk - and what your indemnity provider sees as a result.
The associate reality: Why associates are disproportionately exposed - treating patients when unwell, under pressure, or in chaotic environments where they have no control but full accountability.
What good performance actually looks like: The evidence behind high-performing, resilient dental teams - and the practical frameworks you can apply immediately.
Communication and resilience under pressure: How to protect yourself, your team, and your patients - even when the environment around you is far from perfect.
WHO THIS IS FOR:
This webinar is relevant to every GDC registrant - associates, principals, hygienists, and therapists. If you work in dentistry, these standards apply to you.
WHY YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THIS:
Most dental professionals are delivering excellent clinical care and are still unknowingly non-compliant with the broader professional standards now in place. This session gives you the knowledge to close that gap - practically, confidently, and without adding to your workload.
One hour. No fluff. Immediate value.
AIM
To equip dental professionals with the knowledge and practical tools to understand their regulatory obligations around wellbeing and leadership, recognise the early warning signs of poor team culture and individual burnout, and apply evidence-based strategies to protect both patient safety and their own professional resilience.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the current GDC and CQC standards and quality statements that require dental professionals and practice leaders to demonstrate evidence of wellbeing, leadership culture, and team support - and understand what compliance looks like in practice.
- Describe the relationship between poor wellbeing, dysfunctional team dynamics, and increased clinical risk - including the direct impact on patient safety, complaint rates, and indemnity exposure.
- Recognise the personal signs of declining wellbeing and professional burnout - including the physiological, cognitive, and behavioural indicators that are most commonly overlooked in a high-pressure clinical environment.
- Identify the characteristics of a toxic or psychologically unsafe team culture - and understand why dental associates are disproportionately vulnerable when working in environments beyond their direct control.
- Apply at least one immediately actionable evidence-based strategy - drawn from emotional regulation and performance neuroscience - to support personal resilience and clearer decision-making under pressure.
